چکیده

Abstract Marine fish can potentially accumulate heavy metal pollutants, such as mercury, from anthropogenic activities that harm people who consume it. fishes like Bandeng (Chanos chanos), Banjar (Rastrelliger kanagurta), Bawal Hitam (Parastromateus niger), Selar Kuning (Atule mate), Tenggiri (Scomberomorini) , and Tuna (Thunnini) are consumed a lot by in Bandung City. All these were analyzed using the CV-AAS method with United States – Environment Protection Agency (USEPA, 2006), reducing agent was replaced stannous (II) chloride sodium borohydride. Variations sample preparation process include drying an oven freeze dryer. SEM-EDX frozen-dried samples shows fibbers’ morphology is intact, while fibbers damaged hot-dried samples. During characterization FTIR, there slight shift wave number. The mercury concentrations obtained every below 0.5 mg/kg based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 2009 standard for total fish. Therefore, it be concluded safe to consumed. Validation methods showed 0.3% borohydride reductor used analyze replace (II)chloride. However, further studies needed determine optimal concentration of (NaBH 4 ) marine reduction agent.

Direct determination of mercury in blood by use of sodium borohydride reduction and atomic absorption spectrophotometry.

A method is presented for the rapid determination of total mercury in blood. The reagent used is alkaline sodium borohydride, and no digestion of the sample is needed. The detection limit and sensitivity are 1.15 and 1.59 ng of Hg, respectively. The method gives reproducible results (the CV ranged from 5.3 to 6.7% for low and high mercury blood samples, respectively), comparable to those obtain...

1 Atomic Absorption Spectrometry ( AAS )

Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) is a technique for measuring quantities of chemical elements present in environmental samples by measuring the absorbed radiation by the chemical element of interest. This is done by reading the spectra produced when the sample is excited by radiation. The atoms absorb ultraviolet or visible light and make transitions to higher energy levels. Atomic absorpti...

Determination of total mercury in biological tissues by flow injection cold vapour generation atomic absorption spectrometry following tetramethylammonium hydroxide digestion.

A simple, rapid and reliable method was developed for the determination of total mercury in biological samples. Samples were solubilized using tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH). The organically bound mercury was cleaved and converted to inorganic mercury by on-line addition of KMnO4. The decomposed mercury together with inorganic mercury originally present in samples was determined by flow i...

Determination of mercury in rice by MSFIA and cold vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometry.

In the present paper the use of a MSFIA system for determination of mercury in rice by cold vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometry (CV AFS) is proposed. The sample digestion is performed in a microwave oven using nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The experimental conditions for vapour generation were determined using a full two-level factorial design involving the following factors: nitric ac...
